My grandfather ran this pub, yes it was nicknamed by the locals as jack up the steps, my uncle ran the frier tuck, and my father once ran the lord nelson where my oldest sister was born.

I remember this pub well. My grandad owned a sweet shop nearby. It was called by the locals “Jack up steps”

I was born and brought up on Saville Road. Our house plot was believed to have been on the site of Arnot Hill House stables and kennels as my Dad was always digging up bones in the back garden.
